A world record, recognised by the Guinness Book of Records, was achieved for “the largest single mass participation business speed networking under controlled conditions in a single venue in an evening in the world.”
The event was organised by the dynamic Michaela Walker of Brighton & Hove Business at the Hilton Brighton Metropole Hotel and The Whistler was there to witness the event. Master of Ceremonies, Paul Yates-Smith of Sussex Business Bureau, officiated after the City Mayor, Councillor Geoffrey Wells and Martijn Dresen, the Director of Business Development at the Hilton Brighton Metropole and Jan Rust, Director of Brighton & Hove Business Limited provided opening speeches to start the World Record Attempt.
Participants took part in 3 minute sessions (90 seconds each to impart the key points of their business) and many people I spoke to said that, though frenetic, a couple of good leads is all it takes to make a great deal of difference to their business. At 9.30pm a world record was declared.
The Brighton & Hove Business Show is happening from 11am on 7 October in Hove Town Hall, where more flesh will be pressed, business cards exchanged, and contacts will be made.
