Waste, recycling, anti-social behaviour, Station Gateway, paving over front gardens…these are just some of the topics discussed at the last West Hill Action Team (WHAT) meeting held on 2nd July.
The WHAT is the Local Action Team, generally known at LATs. These were originally a local police initiative, designed to bring local people together, along with other agencies, including the council, so that everyone has an input into making their communities better and more neighbourly.
Meetings are held bi-monthly at the West Hill pub in Buckingham Place and provide an opportunity to meet and discuss matters with local police, council officers and councillors.
Cllr Lizzie Deane, who chairs the WHAT, says: “Everyone in the West Hill area is welcome to come along. Meeting fellow residents and partner agencies over a relaxed drink is a great way, not only to talk about common issues, but to put in ideas as to how you would like them resolved.”
The next meeting will be at 7pm on Tuesday 10th September, when we hope to have a council officer to talk to us about parking (yet to be confirmed at the time of gong to press).
