MindOut’s next anti-stigma event will be a Human Library. Here’s how you can get involved.
Volunteer as a Human Book (40 opportunities): Talk one-to-one to your ‘reader’ answering questions about your chosen labelled identity (eg your own sexual orientation, mental health, ethnicity, gender, disability, age, religion etc.) Example book titles: bisexual parent, genderqueer, carer, male anorexia, bipolar, Iranian woman, refugee depression, self-harm, alcoholic, lesbian police officer, partner of trans person, person with HIV, suicidal, homeless, binge eating, anxiety, unemployed, gay man.
Volunteer as an Assistant Librarian (10 opportunities): Support running the event by reading the rules to each pair (book and reader) and supervising their conversation. You will also keep time.
Human Library starts at 1pm – 5pm, Wednesday 30 October on the Falmer Campus at The University of Brighton
Volunteer Training is from 1pm – 3pm Sat 19 October in Community Base, Central Brighton. Local volunteer travel will be reimbursed.
