Tonico Lemos Auad, 2012
Passing gently over Earth
Angel-like: flitting unseen.
In life acting as our Peace.
She is Queen of the Night,
And of daylight too.
Gaily clad in Midnight blue.
Easily she glides along
More silent than the gentle moon.
Night falls from the bloom
Of day bringing
Tranquillity and peace.
Unceasingly the sea undulates
Rippling on dark and silken waves
Nuzzling against the shingle
Agleam, serenely, silently passing unseen.
Crossing away from us overseas
Alas sweet Peace has gone
Calling her way to other plains
Making Peace
Away from us.
Rowdy rabble as we are
Into the half-light we are plunged,
And yet that unforgiving light perhaps will never dawn.
