West Hill Community Association has lost a very dear friend. Born in Watford on 13 February 1933, John Turner died in Brighton on 30 August 2016.

A lovely, kind and generous man, John moved to Brighton & Hove  in 1992 and after several moves he eventually settled into a flat in West Hill Road. After discovering the monthly Tuesday Quiz at West Hill Hall, there was no stopping him: it soon became the highlight of his month, and a Quiz Night without John was unthinkable.

After an illness he moved into sheltered accommodation in Sloan Court and even though he was no longer within walking distance of the Hall, he still jumped on a bus every month and played in a team with his friends Irene and Tony.

His warmth and sense of humour will be missed by his many friends and the Quiz will never quite be the same without him.
