Colour-in Competition
Competition
We are delighted to show the work of local artist, Sam Toft, on the cover of The Whistler (Aug/Sept), and happier still that she has suggested that we ask our readers – young and old – to enter their coloured-in front page into a competition to receive an exclusive screen print from the shop. The **end of September** is the cut-off date and there are a variety of ways to bring your artistic endeavours to the attention of Sam, who will judge the entries.
1. Email a photo of your entry to thewhistler1976@gmail.com and we will ensure it is posted on FB Sam Toft
2. Pop into the Little Mustard Shop on Clifton Hill with your front page and one of Sam’s lovely assistants will photograph your entry and post it on FB Sam Toft
3. If you don’t have a copy of The Whistler, you can find it right here. You can save and print the image from here, and do 1 or 2 above!
Find your coloured pencils, felt pens or whatever medium suits you and get colouring! Good luck.

evening Yoga class at the Hall after being with us for 21 years! He’s started a new class in London on Wednesdays so he’s packing up his yoga mats and saying goodbye to the Hall. Goodbye Jim and good luck! This means that we have a rare weekday evening slot available between 5:30pm and 7:45pm on Wednesdays. Get in touch with us at westhillhall@gmail.com if you’d like to fill it.
Save the Dates
For those of you who remember the Grand Sales Pam Bean used to organise in the Hall, the last one was in 2009, the year before she died. This year, as a throw-back to those sales, WHCA is holding a Grand Christmas Sale on 24 November. Tables cost just £10, so if you’d like to book one to sell some bric-a-brac, crafty goods, or pre-loved items, do get in touch Colette and Louise at westhillhall@gmail.com to reserve a stall.
Two other dates to save in your diaries: the Autumn Local History talk on 9 October features Jackie Marsh-Hobbs giving an insight into the Grade II* listed Palmeira Mansions.
There will not be a WHCA Christmas Party this year but on 11 December an evening with Roger Luther will be dedicated to learning techniques to solve fiendish Cryptic Crosswords. Refreshments and bonhomie will be flowing to lubricate the brain cells.
