News from Our Advertisers

We caught up with some of our loyal advertisers, without whom we could not print and deliver The Whistler . . .

Berry & Son

WHILE BERRY & SON has been closed during lockdown, like many business owners, Tom has used the time to completely repaint and renew the shop interior. It’s gleaming now, and you can see the splendid display of antiques, furniture, mirrors and curios inside. If you see anything you’d like to reserve or purchase, phone Tom on 07817 369691.

Cloveroak Wills & Estate Planning

It’s Business (almost) as Usual

THERE IS NO DOUBT that coronavirus has brought sad and difficult times to us all. However, one thing I have found wonderful to see is how everyone, in big or small ways, has adopted new means of reaching out to each other.

I have seen a significant rise in enquiries and appointments since lockdown began and I am still offering advice and providing services in relation to Wills, Trusts and Lasting Powers of Attorney. Having reviewed and adapted all my procedures, and, following the guidance provided by the Institute of Professional Willwriters, the professional body that regulate my services, I am now offering an online and telephone service that will take you through the whole process, right up to the signing of the final document.

Home visits are, of course, not currently possible so appointments are being completed by video call or by telephone where a video call is not practical. Nothing beats a face-to-face meeting, especially when discussing something as personal and important as making a Will. However, I have been pleasantly surprised at how well video calls have been going and that a screen has been no barrier to building  relationships with lots of lovely clients in this new virtual world!

If you want to put a Will in place or review an existing one please don’t let the current restrictions put you off, I am still here to help. Give me a call and we can have a chat about your circumstances and how I can help you. Let’s stay safe, try to keep smiling and supporting each other.

As always, my aim is to make sure writing a Will is as straightforward as possible, providing a friendly, supportive and professional service which you can access from the comfort and safety of your own home.

RetroPink@Blue Barbers

HERE AT RETRO Pink@Blue Barbers in this unprecedented time, we have taken the opportunity during the lockdown to deep clean the hair salon and our barbers section, re-sterilised all equipment and replenished our Tigi & Wella stock. In order to give you reassurance that when the lockdown is lifted and we reopen, we have gone the extra mile to carry out our hair salon, barbers and beauty treatments in a clean and environment. We will also endeavour to follow all the guidelines put in place by the government regarding Cov-19.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all my colleagues in the NHS for their marvellous work they have carried out for the whole nation over these last few months and in the months and years ahead to come. Although I am one of the proud owners of Retro Pink@Blue, my main role is being a Radiographer. In addition to this, my significant other and business partner has also become a Volunteer Responder to help the NHS.

Our team at Retro Pink@Blue Barbers are looking forward to re-opening our doors with a warm welcome after the lockdown is lifted. Stefan Holmström: 7 Dials Online Singing Teacher

STEFAN IS AN opera singer, voice teacher and Estill Master Trainer (EMT) with a busy teaching studio in the Seven Dials area. He came to the UK from Sweden in 1996 to complete his opera training at Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and has called Brighton home since 2001. After many years performing with companies including Glyndebourne, Opera Holland Park and Her Majesty’s Theatre in the West End, Stefan is now increasingly focused on training a wide range of singers from all styles and genres with the unique approach that is Estill Voice Training (EVT).

Based on science, EVT explores and trains specific structures of the voice (e.g. the tongue, jaw or true vocal folds) and is easily tailored depending on the needs of individual singers and speakers. It has a broad application across all musical styles and is sure to improve anyone’s artistry relatively quickly.

Stefan said: “It is an upside down time for all of us, but voice training doesn’t have to stop because of the pandemic. This is a great time for learning new skills!”

Through the lockdown Stefan is offering one-to-one singing lessons and EVT group workshops online. To find out more and book online sessions and upcoming workshops, please go to his website at www.stefanholmstrom.co.uk or ring him on 07970 057 660.
