Sing Healthy Play Happy

Sing Healthy Play Happy is a FREE weekly music group for people with dementia and their carers, on Thursday mornings from 5 February 10-11:30am at West Hill Hall, Compton Avenue.

In these fun, gentle and supportive sessions we sing familiar and new songs together; explore instruments and sounds; try out material to use at home; move gently to music; make new friends. Making music together is good for us. It lifts our spirits and helps us relax – it can really take us out of ourselves and give us a break, even for a short while.

Sing Healthy Play Happy is an Open Strings Music CIC project, facilitated by Goldsmiths University of London-trained community musicians Amy Hill and Isabel Emerson, and funded by Sussex Community Foundation, Brighton & Hove City Council, Skipton Grassroots Giving, and the Argus Appeal.

Musicellaneous

A series of short workshops started in January at West Hill Hall for people who want to try out new ways of creating sounds and music. The series has an overall theme of group improvisation and individual sessions may be attended.

Each of the 90-minute sessions uses a different topic as a starting point: from John Stevens’ Search & Reflect, to using electronics to process sound, to making music to film. People new to music-making are as welcome as experienced players wishing to explore new areas. Please bring an instrument/sound-maker, your voice, or both.

Fridays 1-2:30pm £7 per session, £5 if block booking.
