Parking Update

Since my last report I have investigated the phasing out of waivers for tradesmen. In the foyer of the parking offices within the Town Hall a notice stated that traders should apply for a Traders Permit as the waivers were shortly to be discontinued. I made further enquiries of Council officers as to when this would be happening and was told that they had no idea that it would happen. I am still uncertain as to what the future holds for waivers, but I am looking into this with the parking team.

I am trying to finalise and submit the parking ratios to the Parking Review. The problem is that shared bays are used for the Council’s totals when calculating ratios. The increased Pay & Display charges may benefit the residents because the increase may deter use of those shared bays, allowing more space for permit holders. Lack of enforcement also limits  available space,  with which I am trying to deal.

The LAT meeting on 1 May was interesting but lacking in attendance. It is hoped that as the future improvements for the Seven Dials are outlined more of you will attend. The advertising for future meetings is to be improved. It will be important that the support is increased to ensure the future of the Dials is what you want otherwise the Council will have to make decisions without you.
