Pilates is a mind-body exercise method designed to stretch, strengthen, and balance the body. Pilates strengthens all the muscle groups, but particularly the deep ‘core muscles’ which are so important to both our posture and our overall health and well-being. It works by using controlled, yet fluid movements, alongside a specific breathing pattern to reinforce correct spinal and pelvic alignment. The result is a longer, stronger and more flexible body. The exercises can even change the way we move, giving us improved posture, greater body awareness and alignment. Continue reading What is Pilates?

Sacred Harp Singing
Sacred Harp Singing is four part a cappella harmony singing.
We have been singing this music in Brighton since May 2013. Our current home is One Church on Gloucester Place, a lovely big space close to the train station and many bus routes. We are trialling an additional second Friday singing at the delightful West Hill Community Hall in February, March and April 2016. We cover room hire costs with small donations that are very welcome but not compulsory. Continue reading Sacred Harp Singing

Residents put up with the situation as we were told repeatedly that this was only a temporary arrangement. However, throughout the Brighton Station Gateway works, there were isolated instances when Terminus Road was used as a Taxi Rank without either prior warning or adequate traffic management, and this created an atmosphere of mistrust regarding the Council’s intentions.
